123125 SAS v NYK 134-132 Win - A thriller at Frost Bank Center with Julian Champagnie setting a new Spurs record for 3-pointers made in a single game with 11

In a statement win that showcased the Spurs' resilience, Julian Champagnie didn't just break records—he shattered them with an extraordinary 11 three-pointers, a new team record for made 3's, breaking the record of 9 of The Rifleman, Chuck Person, and also scored a career-high 36 points to defeat the Knicks 134-132.

Despite facing potential disaster when Victor Wembanyama exited with a frightening leg injury, San Antonio rallied behind Champagnie's clutch fourth-quarter performance, where he connected on 4-of-5 from deep.

Wembanyama, who had already dominated with 31 points and 13 rebounds, returned to witness his team's triumph from the sidelines—a powerful symbol of the Spurs' unwavering spirit.

While Brunson's 29 points and last-second heroics kept New York competitive, they couldn't withstand San Antonio's momentum.

More than just a regular-season victory, this win highlighted Wembanyama's historic pace as the fastest 7-footer to reach 300 career three-pointers, cementing his revolutionary impact on the game.

So, let's talk Points Created! Which players played well, and which ones not so much? If you are new to this, Points Created is defined as this:
Points Created is a linear metric invented by Bob Bellotti to evaluate overall player performance in basketball. It incorporates a comprehensive set of statistical categories, including points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocked shots, missed shots (both field goals and free throws), turnovers, and personal fouls.

It basically takes a box score and assigns values for all things positive and negative, and then divides it by minutes played. If you need the formula, ask and I will provide it you.

Think of PC Per Min (Points Created Per Minute) as a Batting Average, where the higher you score, the more Productive you were on the court.

Here is the scale to translate what's a good PC Per Min:
All Box Score Stats are pulled from NBA,com or Basketball-Reference.com
Rating Scale for PC Effectiveness or Productivity per Minute
Above .700 - Superstar category. Normally, only a handful of players each season reach this level of performance for an entire season.
.600-.699 -All-Stars are in this range, or either just below or above it.
.500-.599 - Good players who are sometimes outstanding fall into this category.
.400-.499 -Regulars. Solid players who are either starters or among a team's first seven or eight regulars.
.300-.399 -Poor. Players here are mostly rookies or vets whose skills are declining. *Could be solid at position defense. That EFFORT does not show up on a box score. But the effect does show up on their opponents' box score.
Below .299 - Awful. Players in this category are living life on the edge. Most are soon traded or released, or sent to the G-League.
Ratings Scale for PC per Game Activity Score
Typically, anyone who plays a good amount of minutes contributes meaningful stats for their team. They should score above 10+
Frontline players typically provide a PC Game score of 15+
All-Star players typically provide a PC Game score of 21+
Superstar players typically provide a PC Game score of 25+
Defensive Rating is a statistic used in basketball to measure an individual player's effectiveness in preventing the opposing team from scoring points.
It was created by author and statistician Dean Oliver.
Oliver introduced the defensive rating statistic in his 2004 book, Basketball on Paper.
The LOWER the SCORE, the BETTER the DEFENSE!

I coded an AI App that takes the Box Score data from NBA.com or Basketball-Reference.com, then collates the data to run Points Created for each and every Spurs game.

If you cannot see the Points Created Scores from the photo above, or the Defensive Rating, click this link here:

In addition, I also run Points Created for every player in the NBAWeekly! Click the link below to see that. You should see who the best of the best is by sorting Points Created Per Game Average. Additionally, you could sort by any of the column headers. Points Created Per Minute shows you how productive a player is for the minutes on the court. Someone with a high PC Per Min, but a low PC Per Game, is someone who comes off the bench, but may be worthy of more time since he's productive.

All NBA Players sorted by Points Created Average Per Game Through Week 10 12-28-25

And finally, I coded an app that provides accurate visualization for player wingspans for the Spurs starting 5 and their opponents.

Wingspan Lines - Lines are accurate to their true wingspan based on team release notes or public reports/data. I total the wingspan lengths of each team so you can see who has the length advantage.

Wingspan Circles shows Radius of Wingspan +2 Feet to show Range/Reach

I will try my level best to do one of these for every Spurs game this season, going forward. I will also work to add each and every Spurs game from earlier this season so you have accurate Points Created Data for every game the Spurs play as they ramp up for The Race For Seis!

I am traveling some this month and will be in a completely different International Time Zone for a few weeks, so some patience may be needed as I work to release these tidbits of information for our Spurs and their opponents.

UNTIL NEXT TIME, I AM THE MAN IN BLACK.
