The MIB TWiB Is Back with Yet Another Attempt at Spurs Weekly Update Blogs Starting on Week 1- 3 Games Played - 3 Games Won
Greetings, Spurs Fans!
Welcome back to another season of Spurs Basketball for the 2025-2026 Season. This is the season that our team will be back in the playoffs. Book it! 6 Seasons of no playoffs is over. Barring Injuries, The Real Race for Seis has started!
It is I, Agent T. MIB, here with updates on how our Spurs did in Week 1. To say they were fantastic is an understatement. They finished Week 1 with a perfect 3-0 Record. Good enough to be currently seeded #1 in The Western Conference.
I won't provide too much analysis other than a Game Recap, The Points Created Statistics for Per Minute and Per Game Scores, and The Defensive Ratings numbers for each individual player that played and the team. I will also provide some graphics. Lastly, I will include a YouTube link for highlights for each game.
This season, I have also added a Wingspan Analysis to show fans how large each team's Wingspan Radius looks on the court. Please let me know what you guys think about this feature. Do you like how it looks? Are there any other tidbits of information you want, perhaps a different set of players? Are there things you do not understand about it? Again, please, let The MIB know.

So let's start with Opening Night Game 1 at the Mavericks. Wembanyama announced that he is ready to compete for MVP and that his unusual off-season training will pay off throughout the season.
The Spurs win an easy one in Dallas, 125-92. It wasn't close at all. The Spurs attacked the Mavericks in waves, and Dallas went under.
As assembled, in terms of Total Wingspan Length, The Starting 5 for Dallas, without a true Point Guard, Coach Jason Kidd chose to start Cooper Flagg at that spot, is actually the lengthier team. The total wingspan is a combined 36 Feet even. For the Spurs, the starting 5 total wingspan is a combined 35 Feet, 4.25 Inches. They are the less lengthy team, even with Wembanyama's 8 Foot Wingspan, the widest in the NBA.
When you are looking at the Points Created Statistic, please pay attention to the Per Minute Scores and Per Game Scores. Please check out the individual Defensive Ratings for each player. There are explanations listed below the Box Score Totals. What you want to see for our team is higher Points Created Scores but LOWER Defensive Ratings. Look at Victor Wembanyama's scores. He's a true 2-way monster of a player.
You can also see which Rookie Player was more efficient in this game. Was it the Number 1 pick, Cooper Flagg, or the Number 2 pick, Dylan Harper? TLDR Dylan Harper had the better overall game, but in terms of efficiency, not that much better.
Here's the recap:
Make no mistake—Victor Wembanyama has returned as an unstoppable force. The Spurs superstar didn't just come back from blood clot surgery; he dominated with a franchise-record 40 points and 15 rebounds, making the Mavericks' 125-92 defeat look inevitable. While much attention surrounded Cooper Flagg's debut, the second-youngest starter in NBA history behind only LeBron James struggled to impact the game until after halftime, finishing with a modest 10 points and 10 rebounds. The contrast couldn't be clearer: Wembanyama is already the finished product, while Flagg remains a project. The Spurs' future looks blindingly bright with Dylan Harper providing immediate impact off the bench and Stephon Castle continuing his development with 22 points. For Dallas, Anthony Davis' 22-point, 13-rebound effort merely highlighted how desperately they need Kyrie Irving, who remains sidelined after ACL surgery. The game's defining moment came during Wembanyama's personal assault late in the first half—pump-faking, drawing fouls, and hitting jumpers that put the Spurs firmly in control and sent the message that a new powerhouse is emerging in San Antonio.

Onto Game 2, another Road game, but this time, against another former overall #1 pick in Zion Williamson. He, too, went on an offseason journey to get into better shape. He's looking healthier and visibly lighter but still very, very strong. This game went to OT, but the Spurs were led by their Bigs in Victor Wembanyama and Luke Kornet. Kornet's penchant for keeping possessions alive and ability to interior pass were very key in the Spurs winning this close one. It was a victory in which Wembanyama fouled out early in the OT Period. Our Spurs did a bang-up job of finding ways to make plays and win late, especially Dylan Harper.
As assembled, in terms of Total Wingspan Length, The Starting 5 for The Pelicans is the lengthier team. The total wingspan for them is a combined 34 Feet, 4.5 Inches. They are just a little longer than our Spurs. For San Antonio, the starting 5 total wingspan is a combined 35 Feet, 4.25 Inches.
Here's the recap:
In an electrifying overtime thriller, Victor Wembanyama nearly notched a triple-double with 29 points, 11 rebounds and nine blocks before fouling out, as the Spurs edged the Pelicans 120-116. The overtime period turned into a long-range shooting gallery when Devin Vassell (23 points) and Julian Champagnie drilled back-to-back threes, giving San Antonio a commanding six-point advantage that proved insurmountable. Zion Williamson muscled his way to 27 points and 10 rebounds but left the door open when he split free throws with 12 seconds remaining in regulation. While Wembanyama's potential game-winner at the buzzer rimmed out, he made his presence felt immediately in overtime with a thunderous dunk and a highlight-reel block on Trey Murphy. The Spurs' relentless effort on the offensive glass—led by Luke Kornet's nine offensive boards—resulted in 20 second-chance opportunities and 26 crucial points. Rookies made their mark too, with Stephon Castle contributing 16 points and Dylan Harper igniting a game-changing fourth-quarter run for San Antonio.

Finally, the Spurs have their 1st Home Game this season at Frost Bank Center, and the crowd was electric. Their opponents were The Brooklyn Nets.
As assembled, in terms of Total Wingspan Length, Brooklyn's starting 5 is less lengthy than the Spurs team. The total wingspan for them is a combined 34 Feet, 1.5 Inches. For the Spurs, the starting 5 total wingspan is a combined 35 Feet, 4.25 Inches.
Here's the recap:
