Victor Wembanyama led the San Antonio Spurs with 23 points and 8 rebounds, as they defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 126-102 on Monday night. Harrison Barnes scored 10 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter for the Spurs, who took control of the game with a dominant 25-9 run to start the final period.

Anthony Davis had a strong game for the Lakers, recording 30 points and 13 rebounds. LeBron James added 18 points and 8 assists, but took a season-low 11 shots, fewer than teammates Max Christie and Austin Reaves. The loss was the Lakers' third straight, though their previous two games had been postponed due to wildfires in the Los Angeles area.

Devin Vassell and Rookie Stephon Castle each scored 23 points to pace the Spurs, who were playing for the first time in four days after their scheduled game against the Lakers last Saturday was also postponed. The Spurs bounced back from three consecutive defeats with a gritty road win.

Prior to the game, the Lakers held a halftime ceremony to retire the jersey of Hall of Fame guard Michael Cooper, who won five championships with the franchise during the Showtime era.

Game 39

GRIZZLIES IN FOR 2 GAMES AT FROST BANK CENTER
Spurs Game 39 NBA Game Video Recap Link of Spurs v Grizzlies 115-129 L

Ja Morant's stellar performance of 21 points and 12 assists propelled the Memphis Grizzlies to a decisive 129-115 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night. Desmond Bane (21 points), Santi Aldama (20 points), and Jaren Jackson Jr. (19 points) also made significant contributions to the Grizzlies' win, which snapped their recent four-loss-in-six-games skid.

The Grizzlies repeatedly targeted the Spurs' towering 7'3" center, Victor Wembanyama, with Morant hitting a one-handed, fadeaway floater over him for the game's opening basket. Morant later soared over Wembanyama for a one-handed slam dunk, though it was waved off due to a referee's whistle. Grizzlies rookie Zach Edey also found success against Wembanyama, tossing in a hook shot and powering past him for a two-handed dunk in the first quarter.

Despite Wembanyama's impressive defensive presence, blocking eight shots in the first half, the Grizzlies outscored the Spurs 78-52 over the final two quarters to secure the victory. Spurs rookie Stephon Castle had a standout game, scoring a season-high 26 points, while Wembanyama finished with 13 points, 12 rebounds, and eight blocks.

Key takeaways:

- Edey was the primary defender on Wembanyama, scoring 6 points and grabbing 5 rebounds.

- Castle scored 24 of his 26 points in the second half for the Spurs.

- Wembanyama's defensive efforts, including 2 blocks on the same possession that strangely enough, led to a Bane 3-pointer.

Game 40

NO MORANT!!! NO PROBLEM FOR MEMPHIS!!!

Spurs Game 40 NBA Game Video Recap Link Spurs v Grizzlies 112-140 L

Santi Aldama scored a career-high 29 points, leading the Memphis Grizzlies to a 140-112 rout of the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night. The victory marked the Grizzlies' ninth straight win in San Antonio, even with star guard Ja Morant sidelined by a foot injury.

Desmond Bane added 22 points and 14 assists, while Jaylen Wells chipped in 22 points to help Memphis sweep the two-game series. Devin Vassell led the Spurs with 21 points, while Stephon Castle scored 20 and Victor Wembanyama had 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Morant, who had 21 points and 12 assists in the Grizzlies' 129-115 win on Wednesday, was ruled out due to a sore right foot. His absence means he will be ineligible for selection to the All-NBA teams, MVP, and other awards, as he has now missed 18 games this season, falling short of the league's 65-game requirement.

The Grizzlies took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Spurs 40-22 and closing the period on an 18-2 run. Luke Kennard, who had 17 points in the two-game set, was a key contributor for Memphis, while Chris Paul missed a rare free throw for the Spurs in the third quarter.

The Grizzlies' dominance was evident in the second halves of both games, as they outscored the Spurs 156-100 over the final two quarters.

Spurs Game 41 NBA Game Video Recap Link Spurs at Heat 107-128 L

Rookie Kel'el Ware scored a season-high 25 points, while Duncan Robinson added 21 points on 5-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc, as the Miami Heat defeated the San Antonio Spurs 128-107 on Sunday.

In his second game back from a seven-game suspension for "conduct detrimental to the team," Jimmy Butler contributed 8 points and 7 assists.

Terry Rozier scored 20 points, Tyler Herro netted 16 of his 18 points in the second half, and Nikola Jovic chipped in 14 points to help the Heat snap a three-game losing streak.

Miami closed the first half with an 11-0 run to take a 46-41 lead, then opened the second half with a 25-8 surge. Jovic's 3-pointer with 5:45 left in the third quarter capped the run and put the Heat up 71-52.

Devin Vassell led the Spurs with 23 points, while Victor Wembanyama added 21, as San Antonio extended its losing skid to three games. The Spurs reached the midway point of the season with a 19-22 record.

The Heat also ended a three-game home losing streak, having previously won 9 of 11 at Kaseya Center since November 18. Consecutive 3-pointers from Robinson and Rozier late in the second quarter gave Miami the lead for good and capped the 11-0 run to close the first half.

After missing their first 8 attempts from beyond the arc, the Heat made 10 of their next 11 and finished 18-of-33 from 3-point range.
