The Sacramento Kings rolled to a 140-113 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night, handing the Spurs their second straight loss without Victor Wembanyama. DeMar DeRozan led the Kings with 23 points, while Domantas Sabonis added 22 points and 16 rebounds. De'Aaron Fox and Malik Monk also scored 22 points each for Sacramento, which set a season-high in points.

For the Spurs, Julian Champagnie had a career-high 30 points, including six 3-pointers. Rookie Stephon Castle scored 15 points, and Chris Paul recorded a double-double with 11 points, 13 assists, and 8 rebounds. However, the Spurs struggled defensively, allowing 100 points through three quarters for the second straight game.

Wembanyama participated in a pregame workout but missed his second straight game with a sore lower back. Spurs guard Devin Vassell also sat out due to injury management of a bruised knee.

In the key moment, the Kings closed the first half on a 50-27 run, turning a 13-point deficit into a 69-59 lead at halftime. Sacramento's Kevin Huerter bounced back from a recent shooting slump, going 4-for-4 from 3-point range and scoring 16 points.

The Spurs have now lost three straight and four of their last five games.

NBA Video Link Recap for Game 24 SAS v NOP 113-140 L

Chris Paul moved into second place on the NBA's career assists list, recording 10 assists to reach 12,099 for his career and surpassing former star Jason Kidd (12,091). Meanwhile, 20-year-old Victor Wembanyama returned from an injury scare to score 25 points, helping the San Antonio Spurs hold on to beat the New Orleans Pelicans 121-116 on Sunday night.

Stephon Castle added 22 points for the Spurs, who snapped a three-game skid. Wembanyama had left the game in the first quarter due to a lower back issue but returned in the second quarter to lead his team to victory.

For the Pelicans, Trey Murphy III scored 25 points and C.J. McCollum had 19, while Dejounte Murray contributed 18 points and 11 assists, and Yves Missi recorded a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds.

The Spurs suffered some injury concerns of their own, losing Zach Collins and Keldon Johnson in the first half due to lower back and left calf issues, respectively.

A key moment came late in the game when Paul assisted on Wembanyama's clutch 3-pointer to put the Spurs up 117-116 with 37 seconds remaining, after the Pelicans had taken the lead with a 13-0 run. The 39-year-old Paul's historic achievement came against the franchise where his 20-year career began.

Spurs do not have a game until Friday so the next Points Created Blog will Focus on how each of the Spurs are doing overall as well as who is playing better overall Backup BIG minutes between Collins, Bassey, & Mamukelashvilli.

And while we are at it, we might as well run stats for the Top 14 Draft Picks to see where Stephon Castle ranks with Points Created comparted to the rest of his lottery draft class.

I hope you fans are taking the time to peruse The Points Created Statistics. Again, the version I am sharing is called The SIMPLIFIED Points Created Stat. It takes a Box Score from each game and tabulates all the Positives then subtracts the Negatives to come up with a Total Score. Each Player's Total Score is divided by the Minutes Played and that final PC Per Minute Score is their "Batting Average" for the game. The higher the PC Per Minute Score is, the more effective that player played.

I add a 2nd Component called PC Per Game which for a Single Game, is the Total Score Divided by 1. Players that contribute a High PC Per Game Score do a lot for their teams but you have to look at the PC Per Minute Score to see if they were effective while doing it.

PC per Game Score works best when you are doing it for the season. That way one can tabulate a more complete picture by taking the Total Score and then dividing it by Total Games Played.

When I finally do a Season Update Points Created, you can see from Week-to-Week if a player is improving, staying flat, or declining. You always want an upward trend.

Someone some time ago asked my how long have I been tabulating Points Created? Since I first read this book when it first came out. I ordered it direct from the publisher. I used to calculate all of these with calculator and hand write all the stats from the LA Times NBA Box Scores. What a great time to be alive.

Here is the Amazon Link for that OG Book.
