Victor Wembanyama poured in 25 points, while Harrison Barnes added 22, as the San Antonio Spurs rallied from a 17-point third-quarter deficit to defeat the Golden State Warriors 104-94 on Saturday night.

Trailing 81-64 with just under two minutes left in the third quarter, the Spurs closed the game on a dominant 40-13 run to secure their third consecutive victory - their longest winning streak since January 2021.

Wembanyama, returning from a three-game absence due to a bruised right knee, contributed a well-rounded performance with 9 assists, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks.

Rookie Stephon Castle added 19 points for the Spurs, including a crucial steal from Stephen Curry behind the 3-point line with under two minutes remaining that helped preserve an eight-point lead.

Andrew Wiggins scored 20 points and Curry had 14 for the Warriors, whose two-game winning streak was snapped. Trayce Jackson-Davis chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds for the losing side.

San Antonio took control of the game with an 11-0 run that gave them a 97-90 advantage, as Castle and Wembanyama combined for all but 2 points during that decisive stretch. The Warriors were held scoreless for 4 1/2 minutes and failed to make a field goal for over 5 minutes.

Key Takeaways:

-The Spurs' bench outperformed the Warriors' reserves, who were held to 36 points after averaging 54 points in previous games.

-Prior to their fourth-quarter surge, the Spurs had only led for 22 seconds, with Barnes scoring the opening basket on a cutting layup.

-Castle's driving layup with 4:25 left sparked the Spurs' game-winning run, which he followed with a 3-pointer and Wembanyama also hit a 3 to put San Antonio up 97-90.

-The Spurs dominated the final quarter, outscoring the Warriors 33-13.

Here's The Points Created for this Home Win over the Warriors:
Points Created Game 17 Win Spurs v Warriors 104-94 W

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of the cool aspects of The Points Created Statistic is that it can be broken down Quarter-by-Quarter or Half-by-Half.

When you look at statistics this way through the lens of Points Created, you can see which players performed really well as the game went on. You can see who was hot or not, you can see if someone with a poor quarter, ups their game in the next one. You can see if a star player was being defended well based on how poor they were playing versus their typical gameday output, you can know that whoever had the primary responsibility to limit that star, is doing a pretty good job or better. CASTLE WAS DEFENDING HARD!

I have each quarter on 1 spreadsheet and you will see that after a poor 1st quarter, they started to compete and then build on their efforts. There were many players who went EN FUEGO! during quarters of this game for both our Spurs and the Warriors but in the end, only 1 team kept up their intensity and output.

The WHOLE GAME Points Created is above up there.

The Quarter-By-Quarter Breakdown is below.
Spurs v Warriors Quarter By Quarter All In 1 Sheet - Check out the 4th Quarter Domination

Again, Points Created Per Minute Stat is like a Batting Average. The Higher the Score, the better and more efficient a player is. Again, I want to point out that all stats used in the calculation are Box Score Stats so things like Pressure or SOLID Position Defense don't show up for a player like Stephon Castle on his PC Per Minute Score. However, if you look at Steph Curry's typical outputs, you will find that for this game, Stephon Castle, with the combined efforts of the Spurs Team Defense, they effectively halved his output.

For the season at the night of the matchup, Curry is at .791 and 23.53 In essence, The Castle Effect HALVED Steph Curry

For comparison, The Spurs Best is Victor Wembanyama who is currently at .849 Min and 26.7 Per Game

At the bottom of each spreadsheet I provide a Ratings Breakdown. It has all the notes needed to get a read of how players are playing.

If one takes the time to check each player's Points Created, they can answer the question of who is playing more efficiently, Zach Collins or Charles Bassey. They can see who is doing what with their time on the court. There's a difference between spending time on the court or actively doing something on the court. Points Created does a pretty good job on helping decipher these questions .

Thanks again for taking the time to read these. They take some time but I do enjoy doing them. Points Created can be applied to help one breakdown their rec league team or your HS team or youth team as well.

NBA Game Recap Spurs at Jazz 128-115 W

Victor Wembanyama, the 7-foot-3 sensation, dominated the game with 34 points, including six 3-pointers on 13-of-23 shooting. Rookie Stephon Castle matched his season high with 23 points as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Utah Jazz 128-115 in an NBA Cup contest on Tuesday night.

In the fourth quarter, Jazz star Lauri Markkanen had to be helped off the court after colliding knees with Wembanyama. Markkanen struggled from deep, going 0-for-6 from 3-point range, as Utah's 45% 3-point shooting in the first half dipped to just 4-of-14 in the second half.

The Spurs' balanced attack was on full display, with Julian Champagnie scoring 15 points and draining three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to help San Antonio pull away. The team finished with 30 assists, exceeding their season average of 27.9, and outrebounded the Jazz 25-15 in the second half.

Utah's Keyonte George led all scorers with 26 points, while Collin Sexton and John Collins each added 20 points, but the Jazz's 21 turnovers proved costly as they were eliminated from the NBA Cup quarterfinals.
