Games 10 and 11 A picture in contrast. Denver is the opponent in a Home and Home series. Spurs lose both games. 101-126 at Pepsi. 109-115 A Better Game at ATT. Spurs Record is 5-6
A combined Game 10 and 11 Review of the Home and Home Series with the Denver Nuggets.
Both Losses.
At Denver 101-126
At San Antonio 109-115
The Spurs Record is now 5-6 and they are on a 4 Game Losing Streak. Perhaps the Tank for Wemby People are happier now?

Game 10
The Spurs lose 101-126 on the road.
Spurs Starters
Sochan .375 9.000 Most of the things he does, it does not appear on a box score. You can tell he knows how to position himself to make it harder for opponents to get comfortable. His 3-point release needs work.
Johnson .710 22.000 He's the Spurs' defacto "Star" right now. He has put in the work. Imagine how awesome he'll be when the Spurs have a true #1. As the Spurs #2 guy, he's been doing a good job of delivering like a 1.
Poetl .552 16.000 Always doing the unappreciated but needed work. Plus, covering the MVP too. All he can do is do what the team asks him to do.
Jones .229 5.500 Not one of Tre's better games.
Branham .087 2.000 I get why Pop would start him here for some real thrown-into-the-fire experience and bring Devin off the bench. However, I think he's still a little too green to get this many minutes.
Bench
Roby .500 8.000 When he plays, he finds a way to contribute.
McDermott -0.281 -4.500
Bates-Diop .611 11.000 Keita also finds a way to contribute.
Dieng .350 3.500
Richardson .211 4.000 When he's off, he's off.
Vassell .900 22.500 Devin came back from the injury and was raring to go. He brought it here.
Hall -0.300 -1.500
Bassey DNP 0.000 0.000
Team
Spurs .406 97.500
Nuggets .656 157.500 Complete and total annihilation.
Nuggets Starters
Gordon .500 11.500
Porter .583 17.500
Jokic 1.222 33.000 Look at these numbers. That's MVP material. He's their everything offensively and leads their team in assists.
Murray .783 18.000 Coming back strong off the knee injury. High-level play.
Caldwell-Pope .463 12.500
Bench
Green .220 5.500
Brown .450 9.000
Cancar 1.000 5.000
Jordan .912 15.500
Hyland 1.160 29.000 Bones getting the lion's share of 2nd team shots and he went crazy against the Spurs here.
Reed -0.200 -1.000
Braun .143 2.000
Game 11
The Spurs lose 109-115 at home.
Spurs Starters
Sochan .250 7.000
Johnson .639 23.000 Keldon, consistently hustling to try to steal a W. It wasn't on him.
Poeltl .578 18.500 A much better showing for Jakob, but still... the other guy is the MVP. All you can do is hope to limit him.
Jones .803 26.500 This is the Tre we want to see more of.
Vassell .324 11.000 Devin is back in the Starting 5 and for this game, his efficiency was off.
Bench
Roby -0.250 -0.500
McDermott .289 5.500
Bates-Diop .125 1.500
Bassey .531 8.500 Credit to Charles for giving solid backup minutes at the post.
Richardson .625 17.500 When he's on, he's on.
Dieng - DNP .000 0.000
Branham - DNP .000 0.000
Hall - DNP .000 0.000
Team
Spurs .490 117.500 Better for the Spurs. I suppose if I ran just the 4th Quarter Stats, this is where the turnovers happen late and they steal the win.
Nuggets .558 134.000
Nuggets Starters
Gordon .650 19.500 You don't need to score points if you can contribute in the other stats. That's how he got this PC Score.
Porter .833 25.000 This guy gets most of his PC scores from making baskets.
Jokic 1.000 34.000 MVP, MVP
Murray .516 16.500 A down game for him, but still, not that bad.
Caldwell-Pope .484 15.500
Bench
Green .306 5.500
Brown .080 2.000
Jordan .536 7.500
Hyland .283 6.500
Braun .000 0.000
Cancar - DNP .000 0.000
Reed - DNP .000 0.000
The Spurs got blown out in Denver. It wasn't even close. When you allow your opponent a 40-point quarter, you make it really hard to come back from that. It was pretty bad all around, not Toronto bad but pretty bad.
I purposely wanted to do both games in 1 report because it shows a compare and contrast between both games. As a Spurs fan, even though tonight's game is an L, it's one we all think that with a little more ball control and decision-making, the Spurs may have very well won this 2nd game. Late missed shots, turnovers from over-passing, and again, not having a true star to create when the plays break down, showed here late. But you gotta respect the Spurs' hustle. They brought it. They just couldn't finish. Without Collins, the Spurs lacked size. Pop could have gone with the vet in Dieng, but he went hometown and got young Charles Bassey some run and he did pretty well against the Nuggets in limited minutes. He's quite the project but even though it's early, he may be one that will be around to develop.
