Points Created for Game 5 Spurs @ Mavericks 99-104 Loss 1-4 Record 21-22 Season

POINTS CREATED GAME SCORE HERE!!! Here are the Points Created Game Scores for Game 5 Spurs Loss At the Mavericks. 99-104 Loss Spurs record is 1-4

San Antonio Spurs

Johnson .185 5.000 Keldon with another off-night. He shot 4-14 from the field, 1-4 from the FT line, with 1-2 from 3 for 10 points. He added 5 boards & 2 assists.  He also had 2 fouls. He is playing below expected levels.

Poeltl .597 21.500 One of the Spurs Top 3 Best Players and posting that is not a difficult decision. He shot 7-13 from the field, 0-2 from the FT line for 14 Points. He added 13 boards, 2 assists, 1 steal, & 2 blocks. Jakob is doing all he can. He and Dejounte played the most minutes but they did not get support from the rest of the Spurs.

White .273 9.000 Another low-result game at all for Derrick. He shot 4-11 from the field, 0-3 from 3 for 9 points with 1 board, 7 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks. That is 2 games in a row where he finished with a below .300 PC Per Min score and a 9.000 PC Per Game Score. Both those numbers are low for someone of his skill.

Murray .903 32.500 Dejounte is defending like a monster and on this game his offense was steady throughout. He shot 10-17 from the field, 3-5 from 3 with 10 boards for 21 points, 8 assists, and 1 steal. Zero trips to the FT line for as many times as he probes and attacks seems a little SUS to me.

Walker .352 9.500  Lonnie got put into the starting lineup due to Doug McDermott having Knee soreness. When he's the 6th Man, he has little competition for shot attempts, so on that 2nd unit, he tries to score. As a starter, he only scored 2 points in the First half. He picked it up in the 2nd half. He shot 5-11 from the field, 2-7 from 3, 2-2 from the line for 14 points. He added 2 boards and 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 block. I am not sure him starting is the best move but who knows? Perhaps in his next game, he goes off and adds to the consternation.

Vassell .167 4.500 Devin was wholly inefficient against the Mavs. He shot 3-9 from the field, 1-5 from 3 for 7 points with 5 boards and 2 blocks.

Forbes .600 12.000 This is the Bryn we remember. Shots are going down but his defense is lacking. He shot 5-8 from the field and 5-7 from 3 for 15 points. He added 2 boards and 1 assist.  Now if only the other Spurs can all play over .500 ball along with Bryn.

Bates-Diop .067 1.000 Keita shot 0-3 and 0-1 from 3 for 0 points and added 2 boards and 2 blocks. His efficiency was abysmal.

Eubanks .792 9.500 Drew got EXACTLY the same score he got from the prior game. He shot 1-1 and 3-4 from the FT line for 5 points and added 5 boards and 2 blocks. For him to play close to .800 ball these past 2 games show that he is a more than capable backup Center. Perhaps Jock Landale should get some time, but that does not mean that Drew deserves to lose time. He's played well enough to keep his spot in the rotation.

Jones .500 3.500 Tre was pretty even against the Mavs. He shot 0-1 and 2-2 from the FT line for 2 points and added 3 boards. That's decent output for 7 minutes of backup play.

Young, Thaddeus DNP-CD
Landale, Jock DNP-CD

POP WATCH - All-Time Wins Record

Pop still has 1,311 wins after his team lost their 4th straight game. He still needs 25 more to break Don Nelson's record.

Jason Kidd gets a W against Pop. There was once a time where Pop had Jason spend time with him and his coaching staff. There's mutual admiration in each other's body of work.

It was an epic start with a lousy finish.

Team Totals Points Created

Spurs 108 (77.5 was provided by the Starting 5)

The Star of the game for the Spurs is Dejounte Murray. He played better than Luka Doncic. It's just that Dejounte did not get the support play needed for the Spurs to win this one the way Luka got from his Mav teammates.
Spurs Starting 5 PC Per Game resulted in 77.5 of the 108 Total Points Created. The starters started the game great. So much so that at 1 time, the Spurs had 18 points to the Mavericks' 1. Then 25-5 and then, the wheels fell off and the end of the 1st quarter ended 25-15.
The Spurs actually played well enough to win again. The Team Total Points Created Show the Spurs should have won the game since they accumulated enough stats but when it comes down to it, the ball went in the hole more often for Dallas.

Mavericks 100.5 (42 was provided by the Starting 5) How is it that 3 starters can play under .200 ball and still be on the winning side? The answer lies in the strong bench play of Brunson and Kleber. and of course, Luka going LOCO in the 4th quarter. If not for these 3 players and that efficient 4th, this game should have gone to the Spurs. But that's why the games are played. In this case, the statistics do not match the final result.
The Mavericks had 3 Star players. Kleber, Brunson, and 4th quarter Doncic.

Here is a comparison of Team 4th Quarters.
Mavs .458 PC Per Minute
Spurs .342 PC Per Minute
That type of inefficiency late is a death blow.

Dallas Mavericks

Finney-Smith .453 14.500 Dorian is pesky whenever he plays the Spurs. He shot 5-11 from the field and 3-8 from the 3. He also shot 1-2 from the FT line for 14 points and added 8 boards, 1 assist, and 2 steals. A consummate 3 & D player.

Hardaway Jr. .172 5.500 Tim Jr. He played sloppily throughout the game. But he got the 1 3pointer late to help the Mavs seal the win. He scored 6 points on 2-8 from the field,  1-4 from the 3. He added 5 boards and 3 assists.

Bullock .133 4.000 Reggie played badly as well. But managed to put points on the board. He shot 2-6 from the field, 2-5 from 3, and 1-2 from the FT line for 7 points. He also added 2 boards.

Powell .140 3.500 Dwight too played badly. He finished with 11 points on 5-12 from the field, 0-1 from 3, and 1-2 from the FT line. He added 3 boards, 1 assist, and 1 steal.

Doncic .426 14.500 Not a typical Luka game. He had a terrible game except for the 4th quarter. That's when he showed he was the late-game go-to scorer. He scored 25 points on 11-19 from the field, 3-8 from 3, and 0-3 from the FT line. Every point mattered. That .426 PC Per Minute for his overall score looks pedestrian. However, when you check out how well he played in the 4th Quarter alone:
4-5 from the field, 2-3 from 3, and 0-2 from the FT line for 10 points. He got 3 boards, 2 assists, and a block. In 10 Minutes of the 4th quarter, his Points Created Per Minute score is 1.050 which means he created more than 1 point for every minute he was on the court. That's All-NBA 1st Team good.

Brunson .700 21.000 Jalen punched above his weight class. While the rest of his teammates were missing everything they threw up early, it was his gameplay that kept them within reach. He scored 13 points in the 1st half and finished with 19 points on 8-15 from the field, 3-6 from 3, and 0-2 from the FT line. He added 3 boards and 1 assist. What is very key to his PC score is zero turnovers and fouls.

Kleber .845 24.500 The other guy that won this game for them was Maxi Kleber. 3 & D is no longer the realm of Wing Players. Maxi plays in the post. He scored 12 points on 4-8 from the 3, added 10 boards, 2 assists, 1 steal, and a very big 6 blocks.

Ntilikina .500 7.000 Off the bench minutes. Frank scored 6 points on 2-6 from the field, 2-4 from the 3. He added 4 boards.

Cauley-Stein .429 6.000 Off the bench minutes. Willie scored 4 points on 2-4 from the field and 0-1 from 3. He added 3 boards with 1 assist.
